Fiction Valley today announced it has struck a three-year deal with Pieter Bart Korthuis. The agreement will see the Fremantle owned production company, develop and produce an innovative slate of new scripted drama series in partnership with one of Holland’s most successful content creators, screenwriters and directors.
Korthuis has most recently collaborated with Annemieke van Vliet and the Fiction Valley team as the creator and showrunner on the international hit Netflix Original Series Dirty Lines and the new agreement will further solidify their innovative creative partnership.
Fiction Valley, part of the Fremantle Group, is at the very forefront of a new wave of Dutch TV production having recently adapted crime series Suspects, Keshet Production’s feelgood drama The A-Word for Dutch audiences, alongside the recent international hit Dirty Lines for Netflix.
Spearheaded by Annemieke van Vliet, Fiction Valley’s first feature film Jackie & Oopjen had its theatrical release in cinemas in October 2020, and in 2021 produced the first Dutch Original Netflix Feature Forever Rich, comedy series Deep Shit and Follow the STD.
With series five of the relentless crime series Mocro Maffia, Netflix high-tech heist thriller The Takeover and the online coming-of-age comedy WTF?! all in the pipeline alongside light-drama series Hockey Dads, crime series Sleepers and thriller series SiHAME.
Korthuis’ other recent works include the acclaimed 5-part political series The Year of Fortuyn telling the shocking story of the assassination of Pim Fortuyn, Fighter’s Heart and the Dutch hit series Penoza, that went on to be remade in seven other countries. Korthuis also co-authored, alongside Maarten Lebens, the screenplay of television movie, The Strongest Man, winner of the Prix D’ Europe for best television drama in 2011 which was also nominated for an International Emmy Award. For the last five years Korthuis has been (Co-) Chairman of the Dutch Screenwriters Guild.
