La Jauría is set to return for a second season

Fremantle, Fabula and Amazon Prime Video have today announced that their hit Spanish-language psychological thriller, La Jauría, is returning for a second season.

“We are extremely proud of La Jauría. In the current political climate and the ongoing fight for justice and gender equality internationally, the first season is more relevant than ever. This was evident in the tremendous response it received before it had even launched on Amazon Prime Video in Latin America and Spain,” said Christian Vesper, EVP, Creative Director, Global Drama at Fremantle. “The second season builds on both the thriller aspects of the first, while also exploring even bigger ideas about justice and gender politics. Lucia, the Larrain’s and the whole Fabula team are incredibly talented and we look forward to continuing our partnership on season two.”

“For Fabula it is very important to tell our stories from Chile to the rest of the world. A second season of La Jauría is also a recognition of the talent of our actors and actresses, our technicians, writers, directors and all the professionals involved in the process,” said Angela Poblete, Regional Head of TV at Fabula.

“In La Jauría, the phenomenal women in front of and behind the camera delivered a smart and thrilling story with intrigue which has delighted our customers across Latin America and Spain,” said Javiera Balmaceda, Head of Originals for Argentina, Chile and Colombia, Amazon Prime Video. “We’re thrilled to work with this amazing team again for a second season, and we’re very excited to continue bringing quality productions from South America to Prime Video customers.”

The eight episode first season of the show tells the story of a disappearance of a young girl in a Catholic school who stages a protest and unwittingly becomes the center of a police investigation that exposes a deadly online game which recruits men to commit acts of aggression toward women, brought to light when a video of her own assault goes viral after she vanishes.

The series stars Daniela Vega (A Fantasic Woman) and Antonia Zegers (Fugitivos), along with Mariana Digirolamo (Ema, Pituca sin Lucas), Antonia Giesen (Ema, Inés del alma mía), Paula Luchsinger (Ema, Tranquilo Papá), Alberto Guerra (El Señor de los Cielos, Ingobernable), Marcelo Alonso (The Club) and Francisco Reyes (Dónde Está Elisa?).

The series is directed by the acclaimed Lucía Puenzo (XXY), and produced by Fabula (El Presidente, A Fantasic Woman) and Fremantle (My Brilliant Friend, The Young Pope, American Gods). Fremantle’s Christian Vesper, Fabula’s Juan de Dios and Pablo Larraín, Ángela Poblete and Mariane Hartard, executive produce the series. Fremantle handles the global distribution for the drama series.

The series debuted Friday, July 10th on Amazon Prime Video across audiences in Latin America and Spain. Among the early critical reviews, La Voz from Argentina called it “a daring series on gender violence”; WRadio (Mexico) said “this is a powerful story about women who stand for themselves, through splendid performances from Chile”; while Clarín (Argentina) stated “La Jauría is an addictive show.”
