Filming has now commenced on a second series of Suspect, produced by Eagle Eye Drama (Before We Die, Professor T, The Couple Next Door) and written by Joy Wilkinson (Lockwood & Co, The Watch) and David Allison (The Couple Next Door, Marcella) and co-produced by BritBox International. The eight-part drama is being distributed internationally by Fremantle and will air in 2024 on Channel 4 in the UK and BritBox International in the US and Canada.
The second season picks up where the first left off, with Anne-Marie Duff (Bad Sisters, The Salisbury Poisonings) returning as Dr Susannah Newman, now on a desperate quest to track down a self-confessed serial killer before he kills again that night. When a mysterious new client Jon (Dominic Cooper) admits under hypnosis that he is a murderer and intends on killing another young female that evening, Susannah knows he must be stopped at all costs.
When he escapes before the police arrive and as her former lover Detective Superintendent Richard Grove (Ben Miller; Professor T, Paddington 2) is refusing to take action, Susannah is forced to embark on her own deadly mission to save Sapphire’s life, the way she couldn’t do with her own daughter.
Also joining the cast for the second series are Dominic Cooper (Preacher, Mamma Mia!) as Jon Fallow, Tamsin Greig (Friday Night Dinner, Belgravia) as Natasha Groves, Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point, The Lazarus Project) as Louisa McAdams, Eddie Marsan (The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, Ray Donovan) as Alistair Underwood, Celine Buckens (Showtrial, The Ex-Wife) as Sapphire, Nicholas Pinnock (Top Boy, For Life) as Joseph Buckley, and Gina McKee (Bodyguard, Our Friends in the North) as Kate.
