Today we unveil our unmissable event highlights and talent line up for MIPCOM 2023, which will firmly cement our presence at the market. In addition to a heavyweight catalogue of programmes across Entertainment, Documentaries and Drama there will be an international gala premiere, industry panels and keynotes, talent appearances and a musical pop-up.
On Monday, 16 Oct. the international premiere of the highly anticipated original drama series Alice & Jack will take place at the iconic Palais des Festivals’ Grand Auditorium. Academy-award nominated actress and executive producer Andrea Riseborough will attend the gala which will be followed by a Q&A on-stage with Riseborough, acclaimed director Juho Kuosmanen and Executive Producer Richard Yee from award-winning Me+You Productions.
A love story for the ages, Alice & Jack was created and written by writer and film director Victor Levin (Mad Men, Mad About You) and also stars actor, director and screenwriter Domhnall Gleeson (Brooklyn, The Revenant) who is also an Executive Producer on the series. Alice & Jack is an independent production from Fremantle in partnership with the BAFTA and Emmy award-winning company Me + You Productions (I Am Ruth, Close to You), Academy award-nominated Groundswell Productions (Snowfall, Milk), De Maio Entertainment, and MASTERPIECE in collaboration with Channel 4 which will air the series exclusively in the UK.
Those on the ground at MIPCOM should also be on the lookout for Fremantle’s pop-up piano… in honour of hit new format The Piano, which sees talented amateur pianists invited to play on public pianos. Delegates will be encouraged to tinkle the ivories located at Parvis 11, Palais Exterior.
One of the most talked about moments for Fremantle this year was the return of Neighbours. To celebrate the iconic shows new era, there will be a Power of IP: Neighbours showcase on Tuesday, 17 Oct. Attendees can expect to hear from Fremantle Executive Producer Jason Herbison and cast members Annie Jones and Tim Kano on the new chapter of this iconic sunny soap, and what new characters and storylines we can expect to see on Ramsay Street.
Also joining Tuesday’s line up are two industry panels at the Producer Hub, including the Renaissance Producers session where Luca Bernabei from Lux Vide, Peter Bose and Jonas Allen from Miso Film, will all share their insights on the European drama production landscape. The A Bridge Across the Atlantic panel, will see Co-founder and CEO of The Immigrant Camila Jimenez-Villa discuss the production bridge between Spain and Latam.
On Wednesday 18 Oct., Jens Richter Fremantle’s CEO, Commercial and International and Laura Florence SVP, Global Fast Channels, will lead a fireside chat as part of the FAST & Global Summit at MIPCOM.
Fremantle are also proud to have secured nominations in all three awards ceremonies taking place at MIPCOM; The C21 International Format Awards (15 Oct.), MIPCOM Cannes Diversify TV Awards (17 Oct.) and TBI Content Innovation Awards (18 Oct.)
The 39th edition of MIPCOM will take place in Cannes from 16-19 Oct. and is set to gather more than 12,000 senior international television producers, buyers, commissioners, and creatives. Over 250 exhibiting studios and distributors from 110 countries are expected to attend.
