We today announce the international rollout of a new high-stakes entertainment format Stacks of Cash, confirming series commissions from CBS in the US and the Seven Network in Australia.
Created and produced by Eureka (Wonka: The Golden Ticket; Holey Moley; The Floor; Farmer Wants A Wife) and represented globally by Fremantle, Stacks of Cash supersizes the addictive fun of stacking games, built into a primetime spectacle of a nail-biting game show, with instant family play-along.
Contestants answer general knowledge questions to win giant shapes worth real cash, then use an enormous claw to build an increasingly teetering tower. But they never know which of the 30+ shapes is coming next - a circle, a teddy bear, a top hat - the sheer variety makes stacking increasingly challenging as the tower rises.
As the money grows, so does the tower, creating can’t-look-away suspense as every new shape leaves one question hanging in the balance: will it stay or will it fall?
For US broadcaster CBS, a new series is hosted by Emmy Award-nominated actor Mike O’Malley. For Australian broadcaster Seven, a new series has been commissioned, with host details to be announced.
The format has seen early success with the European debut of the show this summer on Portuguese broadcaster TVI. Locally titled Linha D'Ouro the launch episode ranked number one in its timeslot across total viewers, commercial target and young adults, whilst multiple episodes also claimed TVI’s number one show of the day.
All three territories were filmed at the dedicated Stacks of Cash production hub based in Portugal, enabling multiple international adaptations to be produced from a single world-class location while maximising creative collaboration, production efficiencies and global scale.
Chris Culvenor, Co-CEO Eureka Studios said: "Everyone has played a stacking game on their phone. We brought it to life with giant teetering towers and combined it with a rapid-fire quiz. It's a massive primetime format that looks like nothing else on TV, and will have the whole family playing along. We're thrilled CBS and Seven have backed it, and we can't wait to see the format keep stacking up around the world."
Ben Crompton, Head of Global Entertainment, Fremantle said: “Stacks of Cash is a real edge-of-your-seat gameshow with huge set pieces and a unique visual identity: exactly the kind of big, instantly playable entertainment that can bring viewers together, shouting at the TV. By combining the brilliant creative brains at Eureka with Fremantle’s global network, we created a production model that we know buyers are looking for; delivering both scale and value. These commissions from CBS and Seven, alongside the fantastic response on TVI, shows a real vote of confidence in the format’s international potential.”
Stacks of Cash will be presented by Fremantle at MIPCOM in Cannes as part of a wide-ranging global slate, including another new format from Eureka, The Tunnel, alongside unveiling a raft of brand-new game shows, dating formats and more. Recent entertainment launches by Fremantle include the UK streaming hit Handcuffed and supersized comedy Holey Moley.
Stacks of Cash is based on a format developed by Eureka Studios Group Pty Ltd and Seven Network (Operations) Limited. Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Rikkie Proost, Sonya Wilkes, David Tibballs, Ves D’Elia and Ed Egan are executive producers.
