Fremantle signs development deal with Sarah Condon and Fair Harbor Productions

Fremantle has signed a development deal with Fair Harbor Productions and veteran producer Sarah Condon (Dare Me on USA and Looking and Bored to Death on HBO), it was announced by Dante Di Loreto, Fremantle’s President of Scripted Programming North America. Under this agreement, Condon will develop and produce TV, Film, Documentaries and Podcasts across both the North American and UK markets working with Di Loreto and President of Fremantle Global Drama Christian Vesper.  The development pact includes two new series including:

NO OFFENCE – a series adaptation from creator Paul Abbott’s (Shameless and State of Play) acclaimed UK series.  The dramedy series perfectly marries intense drama and unabashed comedy, creating a tone that is as exhilarating and provocative as it is hilarious. The series follows an iron-willed cop with a tough love approach to leading her team of detectives. After uncovering links between a murder, a drowning, and a disappearance, the team must work to identify the assailant before more vulnerable young women fall victim, while continuing to solve their day-to-day cases.

MATCHMAKER – a new comedy from Eliran Malka, creator of The New Black, Israel’s top comedy series, focuses on a matchmaker in the Orthodox community in Brooklyn and his unlikely friendship with a millennial woman who challenges him to find her the perfect match. Abot Hameiri is also attached to produce.

Fair Harbor Productions was founded in 2008 and has built premium and press worthy shows for HBO and other networks including Bored to Death, Looking and Mrs. Fletcher for HBO, The Red Road for Sundance and Dare Me for USA.  Fair Harbor is excited to further diversify and expand its slate in the coming years with this global partnership.

Sarah Condon said “After working at HBO for the last twenty-five years, first as an executive and then as an independent producer, I’m thrilled to have found a new home at Fremantle where they believe in creative freedom, put artists first, and lead the way with international programming. I admire the quality of shows like My Brilliant Friend and Mosquito Coast and look forward to collaborating with Fremantle on a number of exciting projects we’ll bring to market soon.”

Dante Di Loreto, President of Scripted Programming North America, Fremantle, said “Sarah is a trusted and respected tastemaker with brilliant creative partners, both in the US and globally. The expansion of this meaningful relationship continues our growth and investment in the independently minded creative community.”

The deal further underlines Fremantle’s ongoing and growing commitment to producing high-quality original series and films working with the very best talent from across the globe, including The Mosquito Coast starring Justin Theroux, Paolo Sorrentino’s critically acclaimed and Academy Award nominated film The Hand of God, Without Blood produced and directed by Angelina Jolie, and the recently announced musical drama project from Richard Mason and Julie Ann Robinson The History of a Pleasure Seeker, along with Fellow Travelers starring Matt Bomer on Showtime, and the first look deal with Nicky Weinstock’s Invention Studios.
