Fremantle to launch 19 FAST Channels in new deal with Samsung TV Plus

Today we announce a brand-new deal to launch 19 FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus, the free ad-supported streaming (FAST) platform from Samsung, across seven new territories, including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and the Nordics (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland).

The deal includes the launch of the Family Feud Steve Harvey and Escape to the Country in the UK, the Nordics, the Netherlands, and Ireland - available now.  This is the first time the Family Feud Steve Harvey channel has launched outside of North America, coinciding with its 26th year in the US. Family Feud is a hit for Fremantle’s audiences, with the original show delivering endless laughs since 1976 across 77 regions worldwide. Escape to the Country is an iconic British property series that turns dreams of country living into a reality for city dwellers and has been on British TV since 2002.

Project Runway is also now available in the Netherlands and the Nordics. The hit US reality series sees talented young fashion designers and their models battle for catwalk stardom. It is soon to premiere its 21 season in the US, with more than 30 localised versions.

The Jamie Oliver Channel will also launch on Samsung TV Plus in the Nordics this summer. This continues an already strong partnership with Samsung TV Plus and extends the FAST footprint for Jamie Oliver content into seven territories. Fremantle has been selling Jamie Oliver series for 22 years, and this is the next stage in the successful partnership for global audiences. The Jamie Oliver Channel has already been one of our most successful FAST channels since its launch in 2022, with more than 12 million viewers a year, showcasing popular shows such as Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals, and Jamie at Home.

The deal was brokered by James Meyer, Director Global Channels Distribution & Partnerships for Fremantle, and Gerardo Babatz, Content Acquisitions Manager, Samsung TV Plus EMEA, from Samsung TV Plus.

Laura Florence, SVP Global Channels, Fremantle, said: “This is a very exciting step in the continued global expansion of our Global Channels unit. We are thrilled to announce this new deal with Samsung TV Plus, who will provide a great home for our channels in these territories. Ireland is a brand-new territory for our FAST channels, so we are incredibly pleased to be kicking off our partnership with Samsung TV Plus into Ireland, and we look forward to continuing to evolve our FAST offering across the UK and Europe, and to share our much-loved IP for audiences across the globe.”

Gus Grimaldi, Head of Samsung TV Plus EMEA, said: “Fremantle is home to beloved content from all over the world and this launch marks an important milestone in our partnership with them. We’re thrilled to be offering 19 new FAST channels to Samsung TV Plus users across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and the Nordics, including content which is crossing the Atlantic for the very first time.”

Within the Global Channels unit, we have and continue to develop strategic partnerships with key partners worldwide to showcase our impressive catalogue of IP, as seen with hit FAST channels such as The Jamie Oliver Channel, Baywatch and BUZZR.
