The New Pope to premiere at Venice Film Festival


The world premiere of two episodes of The New Pope by Academy Award® Winning director Paolo Sorrentino will be an out of competition Special Screening at the 76th Venice Film Festival.

All episodes of The New Pope are directed by Academy Award® winning director Paolo Sorrentino, director, among others, of The Great Beauty and The Young Pope.

The cast features two-time Academy Award® nominees Jude Law and John Malkovich, returning cast from The Young Pope include Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, Maurizio Lombardi. New cast for the limited series are Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Mark Ivanir, Yuliya Snigir and Massimo Ghini. Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson guest star.

The New Pope is written by Paolo Sorrentino with Umberto Contarello and Stefano Bises and marks Sorrentino’s second limited series set in the world of the modern papacy.

The New Pope, an original production of SKY STUDIOS-HBO-CANAL + is produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for Wildside, part of the Fremantle family, and co-produced by Haut et Court TV and The Mediapro Studio. Fremantle act as the global distributor for The New Pope.

The New Pope is part of Sky’s increased investment in original production through the recently launched Sky Studios, a new Europe-wide development and production capability.
